MT-9 “Timerunner”
Origin Story
Originally designed as a mechanical interval regulator for early power grids, MT-9 “Timerunner” was discovered deep within an abandoned electrical testing lab in Chicago’s old industrial district. The machine’s core—a precision mechanical timer—was used to synchronize short bursts of voltage through capacitor arrays, ensuring smooth relay cycling across heavy equipment.
When R3BOTS engineers recovered the device, its external casing was coated in layers of soot and oxidation, but its core timer mechanism still ticked faintly—counting down from a 90-second calibration loop. The restoration team rebuilt the unit with reinforced armatures, adjustable resistor joints, and dual aluminum capacitors mounted on its chest for voltage absorption.
During reactivation, the timer unexpectedly resumed its cycle, resetting every minute and a half with perfect accuracy. This self-regulating precision led to its nickname: “Timerunner.” Now, MT-9 serves as the Volt Division’s official chronometric field unit, ensuring synchronization of energy bursts, communications pulses, and even robotic task cycles during coordinated operations.
Its internal rhythm never falters—marking time not in seconds, but in purpose.
