VM-8 “Calibrator”
Origin Story
Recovered from a retired maintenance depot on the outskirts of Detroit, VM-8 “Calibrator” was originally part of a precision diagnostics array used to test early analog relay systems in industrial control panels. Its torso, an authentic Commercial Electric M1015B Multimeter, once measured electrical resistance and power flow in massive factory lines that powered assembly machinery through the late 1970s.
When R3BOTS engineers found the device, its needle still twitched faintly in response to ambient current — a heartbeat from a machine long forgotten. After restoration, they integrated threaded conductor legs and coupling-joint arms designed for voltage grounding and current alignment. Its analog dial, capable of detecting even the faintest fluctuations, became its defining trait.
In the field, Calibrator acts as the Diagnostics Officer for the Volt Division — responsible for assessing energy surges, grounding anomalies, and verifying the structural charge of other units. If there’s one bot the team trusts to keep their circuits in check, it’s VM-8. Precise. Relentless. Always reading between the lines.
